Eco-friendly
We try to keep our ecological footprint as low as possible. Our packaging has been thoroughly thought out and most of our waste is recycled.
Locally Sourced
At AfroChoc, we support the local economy. All of our toppings, flavours and fillings are sourced locally. We try to avoid relying heavily on imported goods and work with local suppliers and craftsmen where possible.
Social Enterprise
We support the community by working with several small initiatives for our packaging and bags. Some of our suppliers include: Tiyamike Sewing and Thylo Paper Making.
Our Story
Growing up on high quality Belgian chocolate, owner Laura Schuerwegen and her family were disappointed upon arrival in Malawi not to find gourmet chocolates. So what is one to do, but to make some yourself?
Clearly, they weren’t the only ones craving quality chocolates, because home experiments quickly became a sought after delight for friends and friends of friends. Thus AfroChoc was born. Over a short period of time, the family arranged a production area, hired a production worker and continued to seek new ways of integrating amazing Malawian products in their chocolates.
In April 2017, AfroChoc opened the doors of their very first shop at The Fort, Mandala, in Blantyre. Selling not only the full range of their delectable chocolates, but also a curated selection of Malawian gourmet products.
By early 2018, the company has grown to a 7-people-strong team and a trusted supplier to many of the great hotels in the country.

Given that there is no professional training for chocolatiers available in Malawi, we offer training to unskilled labourers, helping them build skills and talents that last a lifetime.
